Beck Hansen is probably the best director that Beck has ever worked with. He gets all his references!
Jeff Bridges has been nominated for four Oscars: Best Supporting Actor for The Contender (2000), Best Actor for Starman (1984)(!), Best Supporting Actor for Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974) and Best Supporting Actor for The Last Picture Show (1971). People say Crazy Heart is 2009’s The Wrestler and that Bridges might be the winner this year (never mind that Rourke lost to Penn). I’ve been hearing great things about this, but for now I’m going to go rent Starman.
The Band in Malibu by Barry Feinstein. Obviously I’m in love with the 1960s stuff shot by Elliott Landy (and I also saw a Richard Avedon portrait that flipped my wig), but right now it’s Feinstein’s images of the group from the ragged ’70s.
